APEXGUIDE Is Now on the App Store

APEXGUIDE is now on the App Store, and it's free. You can drive a full lap of a real circuit from the cockpit on your iPhone, at your own pace, before you ever turn up at the track.

I built APEXGUIDE after track days with friends who didn't have a simulator at home and were learning circuits from hit and miss YouTube videos. The website has done that job until now. The app puts the same circuits in your pocket, and adds a Garage where you can keep your car's MOT history, service records and track day checklist.

Garage: your car, its MOT history and your track day checklist

The Garage is new in the app, and it's where you keep everything about the car you take on track.

Start by adding your car. Enter a UK number plate and tap Find by number plate, and the app fills in the make, model, year, fuel type and engine size. If more than one trim fits, it asks you to pick the right one. If your car isn't on UK plates, you can still add it by choosing the make and model.

Each car then gets its own page with:

  • its full MOT history
  • a graph of its recorded mileage
  • the date its next MOT is due

From there you can add service records, photos, documents, key dates and a track day checklist. Paperwork can go in from your phone's files or straight through the built-in document scanner.

Your Garage is private to you. There's no public feed, messaging or comments, and the number plate lookup only sends the plate to check the vehicle's record with the DVSA.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the APEXGUIDE app free?

Yes. It's free to download, and there are no paid features or in-app purchases.

Do I need an account?

You can watch one full reference lap as a guest. For Take the wheel, the rest of the circuits and the Garage, you'll need a free account, which you can set up with your email or Sign in with Apple.

Which cars work with the number plate lookup?

Any car registered in the UK, as the lookup uses the DVSA's MOT history records. Cars from outside the UK can still be added by choosing the make and model.

Is my Garage data private?

Yes. Your Garage is only visible to you, and you can delete your account and its data from the Account screen at any time.

Do I need a game controller?

No. Take the wheel works without one, and PlayStation, Xbox and MFi controllers are supported if you have one.

Is there an Android app?

Not yet. Android users can drive every circuit in the browser at apexguide.co.uk.

Which circuits are in the app?

The same 11 circuits as the website, including Anglesey, Brands Hatch GP, Donington Park, Silverstone GP and the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Guides are general advice. Your track day organiser's briefing and your instructor have the final word on the day.
